AFIRE's goal is to enable feed companies to compare fishmeal and fish oil substitutes for efficacy, showcasing scientifically relevant information.
This resource is a searchable database that enables users to upload and access experimental data related to alternative ingredients and complete feeds.
How to use this database?
- To contribute ingredient or feed data to AFIRE, first create a profile by clicking the menu button in the top right corner, and selecting "Register." Registered users may contribute data.
- The Species menu displays experiment results by species.
- The Components menu above navigates to:
- Ingredients, where users can view the complete list of ingredients in the AFIRE database and available experimental data.
- Feeds, where users can view how ingredients were incorporated into complete feeds that were compared against each other.
- The Experiments menu enables users to navigate to different experiment types. Currently, we store digestability and grow-out experiments, but will expand to others as they become available. The experimental protocols are described in the Ingredient Evaluation process.
- The Results menu displays the results associated with each experiment type.
